“Not having access to education is one of the most damaging things for humanity as a whole and the imagination, thought, and inspiration you can draw from books is one of the most precious things on earth” – Hans Bruechle
Putting Perth’s “usable art” back on the map, Hans Bruechle has created an art and clothing label called Handbrake. With a background in art and design, Hans is letting his art do the talking – on the bottom of skateboards and surfboards. The label encompasses a wide range from skateboards and clothing to furniture and graffiti walls.
Hans’ signature intricate details and creative content make this label spectacularly eye-catching. Most of the HandBrake clothing features Hans’ drawings that tell a whole story when you look at it up close and personal. This unique apparel and skateboard label has combined forces with BOB to create a one-of-a-kind work of art on our very own tees.
Bringing to the table – vibrancy and fun, Hans has created an explosion of complicated objects and imagery that he tries to capture in his piece with BOB. “Reading books opens your mind and I tried to express that visually”, says Hans. We often transform words into images in our mind, completing the novel as our imagination pictures what the words are telling us. Hans has used this very idea to draw inspiration to this piece – creating the “oh awesome” moment that we have to come to expect from HandBrake.
