Q: Why support children in refugee camps?
A: The amount of children that are suffering around the world is at an all time high in human history. Due to war and political unrest, we have seen an unprecedented amount of children who have been caught up in this ugly mess. As adults make the decisions to go to war, it is the children who pay the ultimate price as they have before them a long road to recovery. At BOB Foundation Ltd., we firmly believe that education can pave the way towards a brighter future for these children. We are trying out best to ensure that they can have the best possible start given their dire situation and want to empower them as the strong individuals they are.
Q: What is a Post-Tag?
A: Instead of the conventional hang-tag with the T-shirts, BOB wanted to go the extra mile and give another special aspect to their pieces. We teamed up with Postcards For Peace to create a “hang-tag with a difference”, which also acts as an actual postcard allowing customers to send a handwritten message of encouragement and hope to refugee children. An amazing way to let the children know that the world has not forgotten about them.
Q: Why choose organic?
A: Everything that goes into the land eventually makes its way into us! Conventional cotton farming uses some of the EPA's (Environmental Protection Agency) highest-rated toxic chemicals. These chemicals are proven to cause cancer, diabetes, infertility, illness and dis-ease. Organic farming uses natural methods that are in accordance with nature and sustaining our land. Something as simple as choosing to purchase an organic tee or tank actually has the power to change our world for the better! We want to leave this world better than we found it, for we are borrowing it from our grandchildren.
Q: What is Organic Cotton farming?
A: Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Third-party certification organizations verify that organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. In addition, federal regulations prohibit the use of genetically engineered seed for organic farming. (Source: Organic Trade Association, 2008).
Q: Are your products Certified Organic and what does that mean?
A: Organic agriculture is based on the principles of agroecology and replaces agrichemicals with natural methods and botanical products for building soil fertility, water quality, and efficiencies, and for controlling pests. Organic farming is the only agricultural method covered by international regulations and guidelines. Achieving certified organic status may require up to three years to transition from conventional practices and land use. Certification must be obtained at the farm level to achieve organic status of the raw material and must be tracked through the supply chain to ensure the organic status of the final product for consumer labeling (2011 Organic Cotton Market Report, Textile Exchange).
Our cotton is 100% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) Certified, our manufacturers are 100% Fair Trade Certified.
Q: What does Fair Trade mean?
A: Fair trade is based on a partnership between consumers and producers’ cooperatives in the developing world, offering a better price and improved terms of trade for agricultural products. Fair trade certification is third-party assured to meet socioeconomic and environmental standards—addressing aspects of environmental sustainability, banning GMOs and certain chemicals, and operating on a performance improvement principle to address environmental impact. Fairtrade cotton must also comply with recognized social and labor standards during material processing and manufacturing stages. (2011 Organic Cotton Market Report, Textile Exchange)
